Recapping Weeks 6-10 (We May Never Lose Again)

Image
Since 1967, the Super Bowl has been the most coveted prize in the National Football League. The Detroit Lions are one of four teams that have never been to one. Having been established in 1930, the Lions are the oldest franchise to have never stepped in a football stadium on Super Bowl sunday (I'm not counting those 4 league championships we won before that).            I know I brought that up in my last blog, however I think it's important to note. It emphasizes how special this team is this year. We're 7-2 on the season, with losses against the Seahawks in OT and the Ravens on the road. Our offense is second in total yards per game and the defense is giving up the ninth least total yards per game. A lot of our success has been without CJ Gardner-Johnson, David Montgomery, James Houston, Emmanuel Moseley, and more. Despite injuries to a hand full of our offensive lineman (Ragnow, Jackson, Vaitai, and Nelson), w...

Recapping Weeks 1-5 (We're 4-1???)

As a lifelong Detroit Lions fan, you learn to be wildly pessimistic. Since the year 2000, we've had six winning seasons. Over that span, we made the playoffs three times, and lost in the wild card game each time (I'm still upset about 2014). We've never made it to a Super Bowl. We have a history of being mediocre. Actually, mediocre is being polite. We've sucked, for a long time.            I'm not going to lie, if you would have told me that we would be 4-1 this time last year, I would have called you crazy. This team is really challenging my negative outlook on rooting for professional sports teams. Jared Goff, Ben Johnson, Aidan Hutchinson, CJ Gardner-Johnson, Sam LaPorta, our entire offensive line, Jack Fox. Holy smokes, this team is LEGIT. I literally could mention so many other players on this Detroit Lions team that makes us special. I mean, Ben Johnson passed up on a head coaching job , just to stay with ...

The Lions Absolute Fool-Proof Draft Plan

Image
It is indeed, the most wonderful time of the year! It's Draft week and I've decided to gift you (and the Lions) with the ultimate guide to this year's NFL draft. It's a fool-proof plan that will secure our trip to the Super Bowl in the near future.           I've spent the past few days analyzing previous drafts, our current roster, and the past few Super Bowl winners. I wanted to know what has worked and what hasn't. Some of my own pre-conceived notions were proved wrong and I think this guide is a great resource for anyone who loves professional football.   Stay Away From Any QB's After Pick #1          Let's dive into the history of 1st round picks and the QB's that were taken . Spoiler Alert, it's not worth it. Since 2000, only 40% of QB's taken in the first 10 picks have actually panned out for their respective teams. If you have the 1st pick, you're chance of landing a s...
